Advantages. The biggest advantage of Bay Harbor is it's relative seclusion; it sits off the main roads and yet it's only minutes away from all that Miami has to offer. Joggers, bicyclists, and roller bladers will find the island's relatively deserted roadways to be the perfect place for some peaceful recreation. Haulover Beach, an expansive green space of picnic sites, beaches, and boat slips is only two miles to the north and the ocean is less than a mile to the east.
Disadvantages. Shopping is extremely limited in Bay Harbor; except for a small strip of stores on the main road, residents will have to drive west to North Miami or east to Bal Harbour for most of life's necessities. Jobs on Bay Harbor are service oriented and very scarce. To get to the mainland quickly, residents must cross the Broad Causeway which charges a toll for visitors or a yearly fee for residents.
